Irrigation start-up, service and winterizing

Starting the system in spring, fixing leaks and broken heads in summer, and blowing it out with a compressor in autumn before the first frost cracks the pipes.

When

March–August, October–November

How often

Twice a year and as needed

One visit

An hour to half a day

How it's done

In spring the zones are started one by one and every head is checked: does it rotate, does it reach, where does it spray. The controller schedule is changed with the season. In autumn the water is shut off and the pipes are blown out with a compressor, zone by zone, until only air comes out of the heads.

When we say no

We don't blow out a system we haven't seen running. First we start it up to know which zones and heads there are.

Good to know

One winter without winterizing costs more than ten winterizations. Water in the pipe freezes and splits it lengthwise.

How much water your lawn needs

Enter the area and see how many liters a week your lawn drinks in July and how many minutes one zone should run.

Your lawn

What it's watered with

Water per week in July —

Per watering —

Minutes per zone —

Summer rule of thumb: about 25 liters per square meter per week. Rotors put down about 12 mm per hour, spray nozzles about 40. The real schedule depends on soil, shade and slope and is set on site.
