Lawn and grass mowing
Mowing with a mower and trimmer, with edging and clipping collection. For kept lawns and for overgrown plots that haven't been mowed in seasons.
When
April–October
How often
Every 7–14 days in season
One visit
An hour to half a day
How it's done
The mowing height changes with the season: lower in spring, higher in July and August so the lawn doesn't burn. Never more than a third of the height comes off at once. An overgrown plot is mowed in two passes: first high, then at normal height.
When we say no
We don't mow right after rain. Wet grass tears instead of being cut, and the wheels leave ruts in the soil.
Good to know
Clippings can stay on the lawn as fertilizer if it's mowed often. With infrequent mowing they are collected, or they smother the grass underneath.
