How it's done

The lines are laid along the rows or around each plant, depending on how much water it needs. Drip runs at low pressure, so there's a filter and a pressure reducer, otherwise the tubing bursts and the emitters clog. It can be hooked up to the same controller as the lawn, as a separate zone.

When we say no

We don't connect drip straight to a hose without a filter. A system like that clogs within a season.

Good to know

Under mulch the drip tubing is hidden and protected from the sun.

Summer rule of thumb: about 25 liters per square meter per week. Rotors put down about 12 mm per hour, spray nozzles about 40. The real schedule depends on soil, shade and slope and is set on site.
