Automatic lawn irrigation

Design and installation of a sprinkler system with zones and a controller. Each zone waters one area with one kind of sun, so there are no burnt or soggy patches.

How it's done

First the water pressure and flow are measured, because they decide how many sprinklers can run at once. The lawn is split into zones: sun separate from shade, beds separate from lawn. Sprinklers are placed so their spray overlaps, otherwise a dry strip is left between them. The pipes go into a narrow trench and the turf is put back in place.

When we say no

We don't install without measuring the pressure. If there isn't enough water, we suggest a tank with a pump or fewer zones, not a system that doesn't water.

Good to know

It's cheapest to put in the system before the new lawn. In an established lawn the trench is narrow, but it shows for a few weeks.

How much water your lawn needs

Enter the area and see how many liters a week your lawn drinks in July and how many minutes one zone should run.

Your lawn

What it's watered with

Water per week in July —

Per watering —

Minutes per zone —

Summer rule of thumb: about 25 liters per square meter per week. Rotors put down about 12 mm per hour, spray nozzles about 40. The real schedule depends on soil, shade and slope and is set on site.
