Beds, weeding and mulching
Weeding the beds, edging them and mulching with bark or wood chips so the soil stays moist and weed-free. Planting shrubs and perennials.
When
April–September
How often
Every two to four weeks
One visit
Two hours to half a day
How it's done
Weeds are pulled out by the root, not cut, or they come back within a week. The bed edge is cut so the grass doesn't creep in. Mulch goes on five to eight centimeters thick, on moist soil, without touching the stems.
When we say no
We don't spray herbicides near vegetables or beds where children play.
Good to know
Good mulch cuts watering in half and weeding even more.
